The ”Bondi” cafe concept based on Australian ”Billabong” serves as the central zone within the entire Bondi experience. Acting as an intermediary between the bar and restaurant, it serves breakfast through to dinner. Patrons can lounge in the custom suspended fish traps and then follow up with an Aussie beer or two into the late hours of the night where the fish traps recline into the ceiling and act as a beacon of light in the night sky. The stainless steel fish traps are woven to produce distinctive, raw forms and repetition of patterning, loosely based on the traditional fish traps. Distinct features in this space include fish trap inspired booth seating and grass tree log wall finishes which fabricate the environmental aspect which Australia contributes to. The common materials used throughout the cafe are jarrah wood floors and acrylic grass screens that pivot to separate the cafe and dining areas.
