This historic building located on the Fremantle ‘strip’, remains one of Fremantle’s iconic buildings, housing several retail shops, businesses and cafes, the building was in need of an exterior refurbishment, as it was lacking a strong identity. The disjointed nature of each tenancy was eased by way of introducing a unifying colour scheme, enabling the current outlets to exist as separate components, yet at the same time merging elements to allow them to integrate in a common space. The overall concept of the piazza is based on the European ‘Piazza’ (meeting place), using European inspired colours to brand the building. The Mediterranean inspiration was carried throughout the signage concepts, painted surfaces and overall branding. The signage enables patrons to easily identify with their location, whilst staying sensitive to the buildings heritage.
